Five injured Bills back to practice Thursday

Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550)  -- One day removed from a practice in which nearly 17-percent of the active roster did not participate, the Buffalo Bills had five players get back to work Thursday.

For the team's second session of the week, defensive lineman Kyle Williams (Achilles), defensive end Mario Williams (ankle), right guard Kraig Urbik (knee), wide receiver Stevie Johnson (hamstring) and cornerback Leodis McKelvin (hamstring) were all listed as limited participants. Defensive lineman Marcell Dareus (ankle) and safety Jairus Byrd (feet) received that same designation for the second straight day.

Of that group, head coach Doug Marrone told reporters that Kyle Williams, Mario Williams, Urbik, Johnson and Dareus are expected to be ready to play in the team's Week Four contest against Baltimore. With cornerback Leodis McKelvin, his situation still does not have a resolution.

Marrone said they had expected McKelvin to practice on Thursday, but that they're still treating the injury as 'day-to-day,' to see how it reacts to the added workload.

The Bills were still without cornerback Stephon Gilmore (wrist), wide receiver Marquise Goodwin (hand), cornerback Ron Brooks (foot) and kicker Dustin Hopkins (groin) during practice. Hopkins is making a little more progress, and the next step in his rehab is kicking regular, but deflated footballs.

The goal is for him to work his way up and kick a fully inflated ball in the coming weeks. Hopkins had been kicking Nerf footballs to start his recovery.

The only other two players listed on the Bills' injury report were running back C.J. Spiller (foot), and guard Doug Legursky (knee). Each were a full participant, and Spiller should be fine for Sunday according to the head coach. The team is still working with Legursky and isn't sure if he'll be ready to play just yet.

The Bills have one more practice on Friday morning, then square off against the Baltimore Ravens at Ralph Wilson Stadium on Sunday.
