Bills sign OL Wells; Brown to I-R

PHOENIX (WGR 550)  -- The Buffalo Bills are getting thin along the offensive line due to injuries. On Tuesday, the team made a pair of moves to give them some breathing room.

The Bills have signed veteran free agent offensive lineman Reggie Wells to an undisclosed contract. Wells is a nine-year veteran that spent seven seasons with Arizona, before stops in Philadelphia and Carolina over the past two years. He has 91 career starts.

Wells takes the roster spot of injured offensive lineman Colin Brown, whom the Bills placed on the season-ending injured reserve list. Brown suffered a hamstring injury against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, just 19 snaps in to his first start of 2012. The reserve lineman was in the lineup in place of normal right guard Kraig Urbik (ankle) and his immediate backup Chad Rinehart (calf).

Urbik has already been ruled out of Buffalo's Week Six contest against Arizona. If Rinehart can't play, then reserve tackle Sam Young will get the start at right guard.

The Bills have yet to announce the signing. They take the practice field at Arizona State on Wednesday.
