ROBERT PLANT To Be 1st Guest on Upcoming 'Dan Rather's Big Interview'

Singer talks 'Kashmir,' other personal Zep faves.

February 5, 2018

One Legend talks to another! That's the deal when Newsman DAN RATHER welcomes ROBERT PLANT to his show, 'The Big Interview' when it returns in mid-March. It will be the seventh season for Rather's show, where he sits down for conversations with some of the biggest names in entertainment. Throughout his many talks with musicians, Mr. Rather has noted that one particular thread always seems to be in the forefront of those conversations, namely that "They (Musicians) believe in the power of music, and also they believe that music is part of what unites us."  Rather's sit-down with Robert Plant will air in the second week of March, and among the topics discussed will be Plant's own consideration of what he holds to be the 'best' song(s) from LED ZEPPELIN. Now, it's no secret that Robert almost always mentions the epic 'Kashmir' from Zep's (1975) 'Physical Grafitti' LP as one of his personal favorites, where in the past he has said of it,  "It's one of my favorites," Plant wrote in the liner notes for the band's 1993 The Complete Studio Recordings box set. "That, 'All My Love' and 'In the Light' and two or three others really were the finest moments. But 'Kashmir' in particular. It was so positive, lyrically."  In an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, the singer, also referring to 'Kashmir' mentioned,  "It's the quest, the travels and explorations that Page and I went on to far climes well off the beaten track. ... That, really, to me is the Zeppelin feel."  Robert Plant recently released his latest effort ('Carry On') with  his band, The Sensational Shape Shifters, and his tour kicks off this week. Additionally, there's a live performance DVD on the way, 'Robert Plant & the Sensational Space Shifters Live at David Lynch’s Festival of Disruption,' an 8-song set that was performed in Los Angeles in October of 2016 for a (Director) David Lynch Charity benefit. Proceeds from that show and the sales of the DVD will benefit the David Lynch Foundation. 'The Big Interview' featuring Robert Plant airs March 13th at 9pm on AXS TV.
