Justin Bailey scored less than two minutes into the game, Benoit Pouliot scored with just seconds to go in the second period, and Johan Larsson's empty net goal helped seal a 3-1 win for the Sabres over the Anaheim Ducks on Sunday night. Hear what head coach Phil Housley had to say about the win, along with Bailey, Chad Johnson, and Sam Reinhart below.

Justin Bailey

On the goal to give him confidence: "For sure, it makes it a lot easier especially coming up here...I've been up here before but obviously you're nervous for your first call-up of the season and getting that first goal out of the way is always huge and it gave me confidence going through the rest of the game."

On the game as a whole: "I think that's just something I recognize, and something that, you know, I was looking to do was get out there, whatever minutes I got whether it was five minutes or fifteen I think I was going out there and I was trying to skate hard and finish my hits and just give the guys, you know, a little bit of extra energy throughout the game."

Sam Reinhart

On the goal credited to Benoit Pouliot in the second period: "Yeah, I mean I think that's gonna solve itself...you guys know more than anyone it's been a while, so, I don't know how that puck doesn't go in if it doesn't go off my stick so, you know, I thought I got a piece of it as well. At the end of the day we were all thrilled it went in the net, so, more importantly we came out in the third with that lead and played a smart hockey game and they had their pushes but we stuck with it, and like I said we have to built off that."

On the first win for the team and Phil Housley: "It's huge, I mean...we've been playing some better hockey, I think it showed a lot to be able to come back off a back-to-back, off a three in four, and like I said, keep it simple and recognize where we're at as a team. You know, I know there's a lot more guys that are confident in their abilities now, and again, like they have been in recent times so, I mean, I'm looking forward to the next one as well, you know, at this point I want to just keep playing because it's been a while that we've felt like this so, like I said it's never easy to win in this league, so we're going to have to stick with it and get our rest for Tuesday."

Chad Johnson

On getting the win after a tough first game: "It was just one of those, that first game there, one of those nights. I don't care if you have the Dominator in there the pucks were going in it was just [that] guys were making plays, just one of those nights. So tonight again I felt good with my preparation just like I had at the start of the season and, you know, guys did a good job of battling in front of me and clearing rebounds away, I had some juicy ones there so, they did a good job and it's just nice to get rewarded as a team to get the win when we deserved it."

On not letting the shorthanded goal snowball for Anaheim: "We're, I don't want to say a young team, but I think times like this you have to use your past experiences and ride the wave and just get through it. You know, you're gonna give up shorthanded goals and we've done it in the past, so you kind of just move on from it. So I think we're gaining that maturity, that composure a little bit because we've done it unfortunately a little bit more so, yeah it was big for us just to get that goal right I think right after that, I think that second one there."

Phil Housley

On his first win as an NHL head coach: "It feels great obviously, but I have to tip my hat to the guys in that locker room, you know, this started against San Jose, and even LA flying five hours out. Really good effort, didn't get rewarded and had a tough practice on Friday, came to LA I thought the guys deserved better. Playing three in four out here in the west, flying five hours the guys really gutted it out to get a win tonight and I'm really proud of the guys in that locker room."

On Justin Bailey's goal: "I think he provided that spark we needed, not because he scored I thought he used his speed well tonight, he was tenacious on the forecheck, you know, coming back hard, it's too bad he couldn't get more ice time in the first period because of the special teams but did a really good job after flying five hours yesterday and meeting us, but really, really good job on his part."
