The Musical Community Shares Touching Tributes to Gregg Allman

Run the Jewels rapper, writer/director Cameron Crowe, country singer Brad Paisley, & everyone in between share thoughts

The passing of Gregg Allman this weekend (May 27) has left the musical world in mourning, as evidenced by just a few of the many tributes posted (below) over the past few days.

Throughout several decades, death, drugs, & rock ‘n’ roll threatened to keep The Allman Brothers Band apart, but the group steadied on (in on-again-off-again fashion) with Allman at the helm to receive a GRAMMY and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Even though the band were in a constant state of change, the one undeniable constant was this: They were pioneers of the Southern-rock and jam-band genres, paving the way for bands like The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Phish.

Allman’s soulful, gritty voice, whether heard during a solo performance or alongside the rest of the ABB, will carry out his legacy with a vast influence, and he will be dearly missed by the music community.
