The STONES Keep Rolling Out the "Live" Shows!

"From The Vault" Series Readies New Release...

August 8, 2017

Throughout their long, illustrious career, the ROLLING STONES have performed in clubs, theaters, arenas, stadiums, on TV soundstages, and in open-air venues.  (In February 2006, The Stones famously played for 1 million people at Copacabana Beach in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, the performance of which was included in the 2007 DVD Box Set, “The Biggest Bang.”) The Rolling Stones have also been very good about releasing great ‘live’ material throughout their career, with so many excellent, compelling, rockin’ chronicles of so many of their tours. But it seems to be the smaller venues-the clubs and theaters-that The Stones always come back to, and that really makes the band shine…the intimacy of a smaller audience, the ambience, the acoustics, the chance for the veteran Rockers to play at a different pace, and most importantly, to be able to delve deep into the vast catalog of their songs. All of those factors have almost always resulted in fantastic performances and, to the fans good fortune, a healthy number of live releases from those shows. There’s no shortage of concert film footage/videos that have The Stones playing to audiences of 3000 or less, instead of 30,000 or more! Some excellent DVD releases in the last 10 years include “Four Flicks,” “The Biggest Bang,” and “Shine A Light.” Additionally, The Stones have been releasing archival concerts in their “From The Vault” series, including recently, “The Marquee Club-Live in 1971.”

The next “From The Vault” offering will once again showcase The Rolling Stones just killin’ it in a smaller setting, and the upcoming release of “Sticky Fingers Live at the Fonda Theater 2015,” is seriously something to look forward to! The late-September release (DVD and CD set, Blu-ray, CD and DVD, and three-LP sets) features the first ever complete performance of “Sticky Fingers” album which has previously been available only as a download. The concert was recorded in Hollywood, CA on May 20, 2015 at the Fonda Theater, where the audience of 1200 was treated to the entire classic 1971 album, supplemented with a few other Stones’ signature songs. It also marked the Stones’ first show on their 2015 “Zip Code Tour.”
