BOB SEGER (Finally!) Makes His Music Available On-Line!

After years of 'holding out,' 12 Seger Albums Available to Stream!

June 16, 2017

NOT all musicians/bands do it. Some artists say they’ll NEVER do it, and some are considering doing it. It took The BEATLES a while before they did it. The music of PRINCE is now doing it. And just recently, Heritage Rocker, BOB SEGER has agreed to do it. What is “It?” Digital Streaming of music! After being one of the more well-known ‘hold-outs’ to sharing music on streaming services, SEGER has just announced that he’s making 12 of his albums immediately available for fans to listen to through on-line streaming services, including 10 LPs that have never been previously available for download! The albums now available include Beautiful Loser, Night Moves, Live Bullet, Nine Tonight, Stranger in Town, Against the Wind, The Distance, Like a Rock, Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man, The Fire Inside, Greatest Hits, Greatest Hits 2 and Ultimate Hits. However, there are still some glaring holes in the BOB SEGER catalog, namely his earliest recordings which are still difficult to find in any format. Earlier this year, an article on NPR (Nat’l Public Radio) questioned the absence of SEGER’s music on digital services and it cautioned that in “refusing to leverage those albums in the era of streaming and deluxe reissues, he was damaging his long-term legacy.” At the time of the article, Seger’s longtime manager, PUNCH ANDREWS, pointed to the steady and healthy airplay and album sales that Seger’s music enjoyed, and he countered that those factors enabled Seger’s music to “maintain its well-deserved relevance.” Of course, that has now changed, and whatever the reasons are for finally making SEGER’s music available for streaming and downloading, it’s a definite ‘Win' for Bob Seger fans! And coincidentally, there’s more: 2 of SEGER’s albums-"Ramblin’ Gamblin' Man" and “Greatest Hits” have just been re-released on vinyl, and raises the possibility of even more releases from BOB SEGER’s catalog in the future! And of course in the meantime, SEGER’s fans can look forward to his upcoming “Runaway Train Tour,” which could very well be the Midwestern Rocker’s final run…Rock On!
