Eric Clapton Pays Tribute to John Wetton

February 2, 2017

Eric Clapton paid tribute to the late Asia singer and bassist John Wetton with an acoustic guitar version of "How High the Moon," which he posted on his Facebook page (see below).

Much like Clapton, Wetton, who died Tuesday morning from cancer, battled with his addiction to alcohol, but he had been sober for the last 11 years. And like Clapton, he volunteered his time in fellowship with other alcoholics to share his experience, strength and hope with them.

The very last studio song of Wetton’s career was "Till We Meet Again," the closing track on the most recent Asia album, Gravitas, which included the profound lyrics, “Think the best of me, till we meet again.”
