If your pondering who might be named captain, Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo, and Evander Kane are all sporting the "A" on their jersey tonight.

The Sabres had a rough start to the game, missing a lot of passes to each other. They had no shots through 5 minutes. The Leafs capitilized on the sloppy play, when James Van Riemsdyk tapped in a backhand goal. Robin Lehner came out to challenge Mitch Marner, who passed the puck in front. Viktor Antipin was in poor position and Van Riemsdyk gave the Leafs the 1-0 lead.

The Leafs controlled most of the play in the first. Chances for the Sabres were few and far between. One of the few was a Sam Reinhart shot on a 2 on 1, that ws stopped by Frederik Anderson.
