The Sabres got some help in the bye week as they sat and watched with no way to get points. The 10 teams around Buffalo went 8-9-1 during the Sabres five day break.

Obviously things could’ve been a lot worse. Buffalo has played 60 games and has 62 points. The Islanders did the best going 2-0-0 and now have 68 points in 60 games. New York has the Eastern Conference’s final Wild Card position.

Toronto went 1-0-1 and holds down the third and final Atlantic Division playoff spot with 68 points in 60 games. So in the end, the Sabres are six points out either way.

Ottawa went 1-1-0 and are second in the Atlantic with 70 points in 59 games.

Boston went 1-1-0 and has 68 points in 61 games.

Florida had a record of 1-2-0 during the Sabres bye week and has 66 points in 60 games.

Tampa Bay is tied with the Sabres thanks to a 1-1-0 record. The Lightning is up to 60 games.

The Flyers lost their only game and remains one point in front of Buffalo with 60 games.

New Jersey was 0-1-0 and is even in games and is two points in back of Buffalo.

Detroit went 0-1-0 and in 60 games with 58 points.

Carolina knocked off the Sens Friday night and went 1-1-0. The Hurricanes have only played 57 games and have 58 points.

The Sabres are in Denver tonight to face the Avalanche. We’ll have pregame on WGR Sports Radio 550 at 9:00. You’ll hear interviews from Dan Bylsma, Jack Eichel, Evander Kane and Zemgus Girgensons who is returning after missing seven games with a mid-body injury.
