Buffalo, NY (WGR 550) - Marco Scandella returned to practice on Friday after missing two days. The Sabres new defenseman had hip surgery in May and Phil Housley said he’s not worried, just being careful. Scandella said, “I feel good today, had a good skate and it’s good to be out with the boys, but some days it’s not going to be as good as others.”

“I’m coming off surgery, just getting back into playing at the NHL level, practicing hard, just taking our time with it so I don’t get reinjured.”

As I mentioned, Housley isn’t worried at all. He said Scandella will get his practices in before game one. Scandella said, “That’s exactly how I feel. Just working through it, we’re going to be smart about it and I just want to make sure that when I get back in, I’m not getting out of the lineup at any time.”

Scandella couldn’t answer if he’d get any games next week.

Scandella talked with Housley a few times during practice about the system. The defenseman is in meetings, but nothing takes the place of practice repetition to learn a new system. Scandella said, “There’s never a dumb question, I played the same system for about seven years, so just coming here and learning new things and its never bad to ask a question on how he wants things done, so I’m programmed into a different system and I just want to make sure I figure it out and ask as many questions as I can.”

Scandella won’t play in either one of the games this weekend. Join Dan Dunleavy and Rob Ray for all the action tonight from Toronto beginning at 7:35.

Pre-sale tickets for the World Junior Tournament outdoor game are on sale now to Sabres season ticket holders.

Tickets go on sale to the general public Monday at 10 a.m. The prices will follow the dynamic pricing model.
