When the Buffalo Sabres acquired former captain Jason Pominville back in June, along with defenseman Marco Scandella, many had wondered if they'll be able to break out their old Pominville number-29 jerseys from the back of the closet. On Monday, those fans had their answer, along with new numbers for thirteen total players.

Pominville gets his old number-29 back from defenseman McCabe as he switches to number-19. McCabe wore 19 while in college with the University of Wisconsin, as well as at the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship when he captained Team USA to the gold medal in 2013. McCabe couldn't get 19 when he started with the Sabres as Cody Hodgson had it at the time. Pominville's back up plan likely would've been number-50, which he wore in juniors and in Europe during the 2012 NHL lockout.

Four guys that are looking to become NHL regulars finally get their choice of number. 2016 first round pick Alex Nylander switches from number-70 to number-92, which was worn by his father and former NHLer, Michael. Justin Bailey switches from number-56 to his number he wore in juniors and in the AHL, 95. Bailey and Nylander will be the first Sabres to ever don their numbers.

New Sabres defenseman Nathan Beaulieu takes over Marcus Foligno's number-82.
