February 26, 2018

Joe DiBiase reporting

According to multiple reports, the Sabres have traded Evander Kane to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a conditional 1st round pick in 2019, Dan O'Regan, and a 2020 4th round pick. Here's the conditions on the 1st.

Here's the condition of the first-round 2019 pick in the Evander Kane deal: if the Sharks re-sign Kane, it's a first; but if Kane walks into free agency, it's a second-round pick in 2019

O'Regan is 24-years old and was a 5th round pick in 2012. He played with Jack Eichel and Evan Rodrigues at Boston University. He's played 19 games in the NHL this year with just 4 assists. In the AHL O'Regan has 7 goals and 18 assists in 31 games.

The Sabres traded for Kane just over 3 years ago, in a move Tim Murray hoped would accelerate the Sabres' rebuild. Kane scored 68 goals and 118 points for the Sabres in 196 games. He will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.
