It looks like the Will Butcher sweepstakes will be over by the end of the week.

According to reports from both Mike Chambers of the Denver Post and Mike Morreale from NHL.com, Butcher will make a decision on his NHL future by Sunday.

In an email to NHL.com on Thursday, Butcher said, "I will be making my decision on Sunday with my family and my agent there with me."

According to Morreale, Butcher still has two visits scheduled with teams before heading home to Wisconsin on Saturday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reported on Wednesday that it was down to three teams in the mix for the 22-year old offensive defenseman. The Buffalo Sabres, New Jersey Devils and Vegas Golden Knights were the three teams who had been in the mix since the beginning, and were reported to be the finalists. Chambers reported on Thursday that the Pittsburgh Penguins continue to be in the mix for Butcher, as well as up to 10 other teams.

Butcher has already had a couple of conversations with the Sabres, including a visit to Buffalo last week. The Hobey Baker winner was spotted at the Denver International Airport on Friday carrying a Sabres bag over his shoulder.

For what it's worth, here's Hobey Baker Award winner Will Butcher at DIA Friday sporting #Sabres bag. My guess is he was in Buffalo #Avs pic.twitter.com/EjjEj3XxdX
