The Buffalo Sabres took to the ice for the second consecutive night as they met up with the Pittsburgh Penguins once again, this time on the road at PPG Paints Arena.  Buffalo was hoping to, at the least, reverse an ugly trend as the team had not found the back of any opposition's nets since last Friday versus the Edmonton Oilers (a span of three games).  Despite Pittsburgh prevailing tonight by a final score of 5-1, the  statistic can be found in the latter part of the final tally. The Sabres ended their goalless drought at (232:09) thanks to a third period goal from Jason Pominville.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Pominville, Zach Bogosian, Jack Eichel and Phil Housley following the loss.

Jason Pominville:

On tonight feeling different, but the result being the same: "We were a little bit different tonight. We definitely weren't as flat as we had been in the previous couple of games. When you're playing the Stanley Cup Champions, though, and you give them a few powerplays and make their top guys feel good about their game, they capitalize."

On the monkey being off their back after finally scoring: "I think, mentally, it feels good for the team to get one. Feels good to not have to talk about [the goalless streak] for hopefully a little while. We still have work to do, we know."

Zach Bogosian:

On the team putting up more fight against Penguins than they put forth on Friday: "Last night wasn't the first period we wanted. I thought we were plugging along pretty well there. Obviously, we let up that goal there late in the first which, you can look at one of two ways. You have to have a push back. We also gave them way too much time on the powerplay. They have some world class players."

On how the team can get more goals moving forward: "Just keep getting to the net, getting pucks to the net, and hopefully pounding away at a rebound. We're probably not going to come down and get a highlight reel goal right now. I think we're going to grind it out as a five-man unit, crashing the net and getting in front of the goaltender's eyes."

Jack Eichel:

On the effort: "I thought we competed. I thought we came out with some good intensity. You know, you have a guy step up on your team like [Bogosian] and fight, arguably, one of the tougher, stronger guys in our game... it gives our bench a big boost. That's leadership there. He didn't like the way [Reaves] hit Jake McCabe. He was trying to get some energy going. That's a great job by him, and I thought we got some energy going after that. We played hard, but [the late Penguins goal] was a bit of a dagger at the end of the first."

On a team of this caliber enduring three consecutive shutouts, with the talent they possess: "It's, like I said, tough to score goals in this league. You start gripping your stick a little bit... thinking, maybe trying to fine tune a little bit. I think I'm guilty of it recently, trying to fine-tune my shots too much instead of just getting them to the net and seeing what could happen."

Phil Housley:

On the difference in team in comparison to Friday night: "I think we came with a lot of emotion. They played for one another tonight. You could see it in the first period. We were really having a strong period but, again, it's a game of mistakes. We can't make mistakes right now, because of the position we're in. We're not getting enough run support to support mistakes."

On Zach Bogosian: "He's been our best defenseman for these two nights. After missing 25 games, stepping in like this and providing energy... stepping up to the plate tonight like he did tonight against Reaves, whose probably one of the toughest guys in the league... it says a lot about him. He's just trying to provide a boost and providing energy for our team was a terrific job on his part."
