The Buffalo Sabres welcomed the Florida Panthers, an Atlantic Division foe, to KeyBank Center on Thursday night. The blue and gold were looking to seize their first win since the All Star break, as Buffalo dropped their previous game on Tuesday night to the New Jersey Devils.

The song remained the same for the Sabres on this night, as the home woes trudged on. An abysmal first period did Buffalo in, as a three-goal outburst in the opening 20 minutes vaulted the Panthers to an eventual 4-2 victory.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Zemgus Girgensons, Evander Kane, Kyle Okposo, Ryan O'Reilly and Phil Housley following the loss.

Zemgus Girgensons:

First period struggles:  "Those couple penalties that we let them capitalize on sort of broke open the game there in the first. We can't take that many penalties."

Evander Kane:

Missed opportunities all night: "I gotta hit the net. I was trying to put the puck in a three inch-by-three inch spot there. Feel like with most goals you just have to put it on net. It's better that I got some scoring opportunities, but have to find ways to put them in."

Kyle Okposo:

Emotion? or frustration: "After that fourth [goal] went in, it's tough. You're getting a good push, but then you give up a two-on-one. It was an emotional game; a physical game. Tempers were flaring on both sides. Hey, that's hockey."

Ryan O'Reilly

Unfortunate: "We had plenty of chances to tie the game up. It's unfortunate that we had to climb out of that hole. That wasn't the start we wanted. Obviously, getting the first goal is good but [what followed] wasn't what we wanted. It was tough battling back."

Phil Housley:

Lack of finish: "I thought we had [Florida] on the ropes a couple of times. Unfortunately we were missing the net and trying to be too fine. I mean, grade-A looks right in front in the slot area. We didn't create a second opportunity, though. So it wasn't that we didn't get anything... we just didn't hit the net."

On Kane: "With Evander, I don't believe he saw him until the last minute. Then the emotions got high. It's part of the game. I think the frustration settled in
