The Buffalo Sabres, coming off a four-goal loss to the Minnesota Wild last night, were in Winnipeg to take on the upstart Jets in Bell MTS Place on Friday evening.

Once the game got going there were penalties aplenty, and goals to boot. Seven scores later, Buffalo found themselves on the wrong end of a back-and-forth, 4-3 final.

Go inside the locker room to hear from Scott Wilson, Ryan O'Reilly and Phil Housley following the loss.

Scott Wilson:

On the rollercoaster affair, and what it comes down to: "I think it comes down to being able to play a full 60 [minutes]. We showed spurts and made a stretch for [the lead], but we have to come out in the first period and show some emotion."

On his first goal as a Sabre: "That was a product of something we've been working on. Just getting pucks out fast and shooting the puck a lot more. It's nice to be rewarded for it."

Ryan O'Reilly:

On the effort: "We were a little too inconsistent. That start hurt us. It was tough to climb back, but we did some good things. Just wasn't there for the full 60 [minutes]. It's tough."

On the tough year it's been for Chad Johnson: "He played great tonight. He gave us a chance. There were some huge saves he made on 2-on-1s and a breakaway, and we have to help him out more. We weren't good enough in front of him."

Phil Housley:

On the state of the team: "There's bits and pieces of our game that are good but there's a lack of consistency throughout the whole game. Little details in every shift can make a difference. I don't think we understand that right now. You have a responsibility in your own end to protect your net. A couple breakdowns, and the powerplay didn't come through for us tonight when they had the opportunity."

On shot selection: "This separates good teams from the rest. They know they don't have an opportunity to pick a corner and have a really good look, so they try to pass it off the pads and try to create second chances and opportunities. We're trying to be too fine in that area. Our shot selection definitely has to be better. I did like our mentality at times, though, when we did choose to shoot it. [Marco] Scandella is a result of that. He gets a puck, puts it at the net, and gets a goal. Wilson coming down off a rush has an opportunity to really pick a corner, and picks that corner. The other goal was a result of good, hard work."
