The Buffalo Sabres got a big home win on Tuesday night, knocking off the Washington Capitals, 3-1 at KeyBank Center. Evander Kane scored twice in the win, while Benoit Pouliot continues to play well with the game-winning goal scored in the third period. No go inside the locker room and read what Kane, Pouliot, Jack Eichel, Robin Lehner and head coach Phil Housley had to say following the victory:

Evander Kane:

On the team's performance in the win: "[The Capitals] definitely came with some pushes in the second and third period, but we stuck with it. weathered the storm, pushed back and played solid defensively. We got some timely goals, especially [Benoit Pouliot] in the third with a great play."

More on the team's win: "We stuck with it. Our line had some chances throughout the game; just didn't quite connect, but we had some timely goals. We played pretty sound defensively, Robin [Lehner] played great, and we had some big blocked shots."

Benoit Pouliot:

On the play of his line with Ryan O'Reilly and Kyle Okposo: "[Our line] is having good chemistry right now, we're working hard. We got scored on a few times in the last few games, but we always come back with a goal or a strong shift that's gonna get us back in the game."

On beating a team like the Capitals: "Washington is such a dangerous team, and we kept them to four or five shots when we dominated them in the first period. They kind of gave us a push back when we took the lead, but we stood our ground, limited the mistakes we've made in the past, and came out with the win. [Lehner] played strong, everyone was playing solid, so it was good."

Jack Eichel:

On getting a late win on home ice: "Not too long ago against San Jose, [we had] a tied game late and we end up getting nothing out of it. Tonight, we were on the other side of it. It was nice, and we should learn from that. We stuck with our gameplan for 60 minutes, and we didn't deviate from the plan."

On his play with Evander Kane and Jason Pominville: "We thought we could've come up with one or two [goals]. We had some good zone time; even in the third, we had some good chances. I thought I had some chances. I think I need to learn how to shoot the puck, and I think our fans are getting sick of me trying to pass it."

Robin Lehner:

On Tuesday's performance: "This is how we should play. Honestly, it was kind of hard standing there for a lot of the game, but it was nice seeing how we played."

On the success of the defensive play: "It was all from simple hockey. I don't think I had one odd-man rush against today, and I saw most of the pucks. They made it easy for me today."

Phil Housley:

What led to the big win on Tuesday: "Just making the right decisions, keeping the game simple, and not taking things into our own hands and sticking to a gameplan. You can see when they made those decisions, it just seems that more things work out in your favor."

What to take away from this game: "I really liked the way we started. We came out with a shot mentality and made the right decisions. I think the most important takeaway from tonight was our reloads out of the offensive zone, coming back, not letting players beat us up ice and being tough to play against."

On Jack Eichel's performance: "One thing Jack does well is that he's a very confident person with the puck. He handles it very well and creates his own chances and opportunities for his linemates. I'd like to see him shoot more, especially on 2-on-1 rushes. He's got a terrific shot."
