Justin Bailey has scored one minute in the game to give the Sabres a 1-0 lead over the Vancouver Canucks. Check back throughout the game for updates.

First Period

19:00 - SABRES GOAL. What a start for the blue and gold, jumping right on Vancouver to open up a one-goal lead. Ryan O'Reilly played much better as the road trip went on, and he sets up Justin Bailey for the goal. It is Bailey's second goal in three games sicne being called up. 1-0 BUF.

15:55 - The face-off violation monster has bitten the Canucks. They had two players kicked out the face-off dot and when that happens, it is a minor penalty. We will see if Buffalo can take advantage. I am not a fan of the rule because of the inconsistencies in the linesmen, and the way they handle each face-off individually. There sometimes seems to be no rhyme or reason for why a player is kicked out of the dot.

11:31 - Chad Johnson had to be on the top of his game early tonight. The net minder is making his third straight start, including the only win on the west coast trip in Anaheim. Phil Housley has been complimentary of how Johnson performed in net for the team.

8:04 - CANUCKS GOAL. That was not the best defensive positioning by Buffalo, and Vancouver makes them pay. The possession has been dominated by the visiting team, as evidenced by a 12-1 shot disparity so far. Buffalo's only shot has resulted in a goal. The twelfth of the night for Vancouver, by Markus Granlund, has tied the game. 1-1 tie.

5:08 - If you had told me that Vancouver would outshoot Buffalo in the first period 13-2, I would have told you it was the Sabres that played last night. Instead, the team had a day to re-acclimate themselves with the eastern time zone while the Canucks got blown out 6-3 in Boston last night. This is also the third game in four nights for the Canucks.

2:40 - SABRES GOAL. Buffalo has been totally outplayed this period by their opponent, but a big save at one end and your franchise player does it all himself nearly going coast-to-coast to give the team its second lead of the night. Jack Eichel receives the puck in his own end and does the rest through the defense. 2-1 BUF.
