First Period

15:36 - It feels like the Sabres have not had the puck at all to start this game. Shots are 5-0 in favor of the Islanders, and they have had solid possession time to this point. Stil scoreless in the first period.

12:17 - SABRES GOAL. I guess the saying is true, all it takes is one. Buffalo's first shot of the game is a good one; Jack Eichel, from his off wing, whips a great wrist shot from the right wing face-off dot and cranks it off the inside of the goal post to beat Jaroslav Halak for the goala. 1-0 BUF.

8:07 - This has not been a good period for Buffalo, save Eichel's shot that was perfectly placed for the game's only goal. New York is taking the play to the home team and possessing the puck. Shots are 8-1 in favor of the visitors and the crowd here has been sitting on their hands for much of this frame.

6:39 - SABRES GOAL. Two shots, two goals for the home team. Marco Scandella took a shot that missed the net, but the puck sligh shotted right back to the front of the net for Evan Rodgrigues. The forward gets just enough on his contested shot at the top of the crease to up Buffalo's lead to two goals. 2-0 BUF.

2:39 - Man, the Sabres look sharp in their Winter Classic jerseys. I hope they ditch the navy blue and gold for royal blue and mustard yellow. I will bang that drum until it happens.
