The Sabres have dropped both of their games out of the All-Star break, and look to snap the streak against the St. Louis Blues. The two teams are scoreless in the first period, check back throughout the game for updates.

First Period

14:40 - Both teams have been going end-to-end with the play so far, Buffalo heads to the power play after their latest rush in the offensive zone. Patrik Berglund will sit for the next two minutes, unless the blue and gold can score.

10:58 - The St. Louis penalty kill did a good job of not allowing Buffalo any real scoring opportunities while they were a man down. It was a fairly easy two minutes for the visitors, if you ask me.

5:52 - Zemgus Girgensons heads to the box for tripping along the boards in the neutral zone. St. Louis seems to be the better team to this point. They lead in the shots on goal 5-3, it feels like that total should be higher in favor of the Blues for how much they have had the puck.

3:36 - I have liked Buffalo's special teams in recent weeks and just now their penalty kill does a good job of keeping the Blues to the outside and not really giving up any chances despite three shots on goal. Robin Lehner did what he needed to to keep the easy shots away from the goal.

End of Period

STL: 5:20 - Patrik Berglund (2 min., slashing)

Second Period

15:16 - The Sabres again have some jump in their step this period. This time they are starting to crash the net and make life a litle difficult on Carter Hutton. Colin Wilson had the latest example a moment ago by driving to the front and creating a coring chance. This game is still scoreless, but Buffalo is not getting blown out by any stretch of the imagination.

11:36 - Even though this has been a much better game for the Sabres tonight than their previous two home games, it will not matter unless they score a goal. Evander Kane came close a few minutes ago off of a set play on a face-off, the team needs him to bury that chance and end the scoreless tie.
