Rex Ryan says his team is as healthy as they’ve been in a while, but that doesn’t include Sammy Watkins being ready to play yet.

The Bills head coach met with the media Monday and said the wide receiver feels “fantastic,” but that the team’s medical staff doesn’t feel he’s ready to practice this week.  Watkins has been on Injured Reserve and eligible to be activated to the 53-man roster next week if he’s healthy enough to play.  He can practice this week, but it doesn’t appear that will be happening.

Ryan also said Marcell Dareus is “progressing nicely” from his groin injury that kept him out of the team’s last game at Seattle, but the defensive tackle didn’t practice Monday.  He was seen in the fieldhouse working with trainers.

Linebacker Zach Brown was also missing from practice, but Ryan gave no indication of his status.

There could be a couple lineup changes, as well, when the team travels to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals Sunday.  A week after cornerback Ronald Darby appeared to be benched, Corey White was working with the first unit on defense.  Darby was off to the side chatting with defensive backs coach Tim McDonald.  At one point, it appeared McDonald was getting fairly animated with the second-year player, who never put his helmet on or took any reps during the position of practice the media was allowed to watch.

After practice, White confirmed there is an "open competiton" between him and Darby for the spot this week.

"We'll see," he said.  "Right now we're just competing in practice and see who starts on Sunday.  That's what we're doing."

At safety, Robert Blanton, Jonathan Meeks, and Duke Williams all appeared to be taking turns getting reps opposite Corey Graham during the early individual portion of the session.

On the offensive side of the ball, Ryan appeared to leave the door open for Seantrel Henderson to take over at right tackle for Jordan Mills, who struggled last Monday night, and said Patrick Lewis and Ryan Groy will compete for the starting center spot after Eric Wood went down with a broken leg.
