Bills LB Alexander named AFC Defensive Player of the Month

Bills linebacker Lorenzo Alexander has been named the NFL’s AFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.

 

Alexander is the first Buffalo Bills defender to win this award since defensive end Mario Williams in November of 2014.  It’s also Alexander’s first player of the month award in his ten seasons in the league.

 

Below is a summary of Alexander’s performance in the month of October:

 

-          Recorded a 6.0 sacks in the month (tied for the most in the AFC in October)

-          Leads the NFL with 9.0 sacks this season (Entered the 2016 season with 9.0 sacks in his career)

-          Ranks tied for second in the NFL with three forced fumbles

-          Became the first NFL player to record a sack in the first seven games of the season since Jared Allen with Minnesota in 2011

-          Played a pivotal role in Buffalo’s three wins in the month of October

-          Has 30 tackles (including seven tackles for loss) on defense and six tackles on special teams
