Orchard Park, NY (WGR 550) -- A year after getting brought in to create some mayhem as a part of the New York Jets, the franchise released the outside linebacker Tuesday to make room for another running back on the roster.
The former Bills first-round pick in 2009, Maybin was released prior to the 2011 season. He cleared waivers, signed with the Jets and had a certain degree of success in Rex Ryan's 3-4 scheme. Maybin had six sacks with the Jets before falling out of favor with the coaching staff in 2012.
Throughout this season, Maybin has just one tackle. Running back Kahlil Bell takes his spot on the roster.
